Spectacled Bear Project

Parco Natura Viva has been involved in the conservation of the Spectacled bear and its habitat for many years.
On one side Parco Natura Viva has been contributing to the creation of the Otonga Reserve in Ecuador raising funds by selling the small storybook “Lo Scarabeo d’Oro” and objects made of Tagua, a material obtained from a nutshell.
On the other side Parco Natura Viva has been supporting The Andean Bear Conservation Project of the Andean Bear Foundation, whose aim is to improve the knowledge about this species by collecting data on their environmental requirements, ecology and habitat use. Furthermore, the project is involved in the rehabilitation and release of rescued bears.
