Mission

Our Mission

We are a zoological park, taking care of more than 1500 animals, covering 42 hectars of green area on a morainic hill.
A modern breeding center for endangered species, linked to many international structures dealing with the same mission. We do share informations to manage species, avoiding genetic cross, ensuring wellbeing and promoting reintroductions in natural habitat.
Member of EAZA (Unione Italiana Giardini Zoologici e Acquari) EAZA (European Union of Zoos and Aquaria) WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquaria).
Our every work:


CONSERVATION

•    contributing to the animal and botanical life conservation,         caring for natural habitats;
•    setting strategies in order to ensure endangered species         survival;
•    protecting and managing, in a controlled ambient, the         endangered species.    

RESEARCH

•  optimizing species managment within the zoological park, focusing on topics as the animal population, the animal wellbeing, comportamental biology, cognitive development and veterinarian medicine.

EDUCATION

•    increasing awareness on biodiversity importance;
•    educating new generations to the environment respect;
•    raise public awareness to the necessity to protect nature.

Educational Department

Nowadays zoological gardens are places where people can not only see animals from all over the world, but also learn live a true educational experience. The Educational Department of Parco Natura Viva is more and more focused on becoming a real center for environmental education on a local level, with the purpose of offering educational programs and meetings to schools in order to promote environmental knowledge and make students aware of issues related to nature preservation.

Pet therapy

Parco Natura Viva strongly believes in the power of human animal interaction so forth, Animal Assisted Intervention Project started. Booking in time disabled groups of people can experience the emotion to prepare environmental enrichment for different species, they could pet a bunny, feed goats, they could handle animal samples. From six years we have been working with disabled children and teenagers offering them specific and long term Animal Assisted Intervention. Human- Animals interaction is always mediate by the Park’s staff who have the competence to guarantee the needs of everybody.
