Mission

Zoom

Through time, Zoos have changed from being mere expositors of exotic animals to having a new and important role in species and habitat conservation. Focus for modern zoological centres was stated at the Rio de Janeiro Conference in 1992: consensus was declared on the main importance these structures have of protecting the multiplicity of species. Following this Conference, WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquaria) issued the World Conservation Strategy, directives coming from which comply with the three fundamentals of:

  • CONSERVATION OF SPECIES AND THEIR HABITATS
  • RESEARCH
  • EDUCATION

Through its 40 year history Parco Natura Viva has invested and still invests relevant amounts in educational projects as well as research of in situ and ex situ programs, to protect animals and their native habitats.
