Animal Assisted Intervention

Zoom

Parco Natura Viva has always strongly believed in the power of human-animal interaction. For this reason the Animal Assisted Intervention Project was started.

Animal Assisted Intervention can be divided into:
Animal Assisted Activities (AAA): the aim of which is to create a playful atmosphere and to increase the living quality of people who live with some disability
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT): therapeutic intervention with defined objectives and a defined way of monitoring the interaction between humans and animals
Animal Assisted Educational Activities (AAEA): animals are used as a learning stimulus for school children and to reach different kinds of objectives

Parco Natura Viva is the perfect way to awaken all the senses. Prebooked groups of disabled people can experience the emotion of preparing environmental enrichment for Bears, Parrots, Coatis or Wolves, they can pet a bunny, a Guinea pig or a tortoise, feed goats, pigs, donkeys and sheep, they can handle animal parts (such as horns, snake's skin, eggs… etc…) Group leaders can decide which activities are more useful for their needs with the help of our staff.

For six years we have been working with disabled children and teenagers. We have created specific therapeutic intervention which is useful for the therapist; at Parco Natura Viva's they can observe the children's behaviour and care for new emerging skills. Human-animal interaction is always mediated by the Park's staff who have the competence to guarantee everybody's needs. The animal's physical and psychological health is always supervised by our staff.
